In the Schwaebisch Hall district, a collision on a snowy road claimed the life of a 71-year-old man after he lost control of his vehicle. Meanwhile, in Rhineland-Palatinate, a 54-year-old driver succumbed to a black ice mishap.

The situation has become so dire that an urgent plea was issued in the Rheingau-Taunus district for people to stay at home and avoid venturing into the forest due to the life-threatening risk of falling branches and trees.

If you thought this was just a passing storm, think again. The German Meteorological Service (DWD) has predicted more snow and sleet in the coming days, indicating that this winter may be here to stay.

So, if you had entertained the thought of taking a leisurely walk outside, think twice. It’s all about cocooning at home with a steamy cup of cocoa until the coast is clear.
