Grand Frais Supermarket Ventures into Paris

Grand Frais, a prominent supermarket chain, is set to enter the heart of Paris, following in the footsteps of major retailers like Ikea and Leroy-Merlin. Leaked documents from
Le Monde
reveal that the new Grand Frais supermarket will open at 20 Rue Lecourbe in the 15th district, replacing an old Bio c’Bon store previously operated by Carrefour. The 485.8 square meter store will offer a wide range of fresh food products under the Mon-marché.fr brand, which also serves as their delivery service in Paris and surrounding suburbs. The grand opening is planned for the first quarter of 2024.

With an estimated annual revenue of 3.3 billion euros in 2023 and over 350 stores, Grand Frais has become a significant player in the retail market. The company was named the favorite food retailer in the “specialized food” category in 2022, according to a study by EY-Parthenon. Known for its focus on selling fresh food products, Grand Frais has gained popularity in suburban commercial areas, attracting consumers seeking high-quality food products.

The company’s concept centers around three main brands: Grand Frais stores, Fresh supermarkets, and Mon-marché.fr online platform. With an average opening rate of two stores per month, Grand Frais is rapidly expanding its footprint. Fresh, catering to smaller towns, is expanding at a rate of 10 to 15 openings per year, and Mon-marché.fr, launched in 2020, has experienced significant growth. The arrival of Grand Frais in Paris represents an exciting new chapter for the company, as it seeks to offer its innovative approach to fresh food retail to a new audience.
