Bordeaux: The Most Attractive Metropolis in France, Beating Paris by a Mile

According to the Metropolitan Observatory, Bordeaux has been ranked as the most attractive city in France for 2023, surpassing cities like Paris. In a study comparing Bordeaux with eleven other major cities in France, including Lyon, Lille, Nantes, Toulouse, Nice, Strasbourg, Paris, Aix-Marseille-Provence, Rouen, and Rennes, Bordeaux emerged as the clear winner.

The study highlighted the importance of quality of life, environment, and real estate for both business owners and employees. This indicates a strong preference for the south of France and a desire for more human-scaled metropolitan areas.

Interestingly, the economic dynamism of a location is a secondary factor for the majority of employees surveyed. However, for business owners, quality of life takes precedence over everything else when deciding on a location. Human capital is a critical factor for business owners, as it allows them to easily recruit collaborators.

The report also revealed that employees have high geographic flexibility, with 74% of them willing to settle in any of the twelve tested metropolises if a professional opportunity presented itself. Additionally, 44% of those surveyed would be open to moving to one of these twelve metropolises without conditions.

Overall, Bordeaux’s emphasis on quality of life and environment has made it the most attractive metropolis in France, attracting businesses and employees alike. It is clear that Bordeaux is becoming a prominent location in France.
