Cam Talbot to Represent LA Kings at 2024 NHL All-Star Game

The National Hockey League (NHL) has announced that goaltender Cam Talbot will represent the LA Kings at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game on February 3 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario. This will be Talbot’s second All-Star selection, having previously been chosen in 2022 while playing for the Minnesota Wild.

Talbot, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds, has had an impressive season. In 25 games, he has achieved a 14-8-3 record with a remarkable 2.10 goals against average (GAA) and an impressive .925 save percentage (SV%), including two shutouts. Among goaltenders with at least 20 games played, Talbot leads the league in both GAA and SV%, and has allowed the third fewest number of goals at 52.

The 36-year-old goaltender has been a key player for the Kings, consistently limiting opponents to two goals or less in 16 of his 25 appearances. Thanks to his efforts, the Kings currently lead the league with a 2.35 goals-against average per game. Talbot also leads in several categories for goaltenders who have played in at least 10 road games, including wins, SV%, GAA, goals against, and shutouts, with an impressive 10-1-1 record on the road this season.

Since joining the Kings as a free agent on July 1, Talbot has continued to impress. He achieved his first win with the team on October 17 in Winnipeg and was recognized as the NHL’s ‘Second Star’ of the week ending November 5 after delivering a stunning performance with a 1.00 GAA, .963 SV%, and one shutout, helping the Kings secure a perfect 3-0-0 week.

Originally from Caledonia, Ontario, Talbot has broken records within the Kings franchise, becoming just the third goaltender in team history to reach the 10-win mark within their first 14 games with the franchise. Talbot’s exceptional performance on the road has also tied the NHL record for the longest season-opening road win streak by a goaltender, sharing the distinction with Chicago’s Glenn Hall.

Talbot’s selection as an All-Star makes him the seventh different Kings player to represent the team in the last 11 NHL All-Star games, and he is the first Kings goaltender to earn All-Star recognition since Jonathan Quick.

The 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend is set to take place from February 1-3 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, kicking off with the Player Draft on NHL All-Star Thursday. The weekend will also include the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills competition on Friday and the highly-anticipated 2024 NHL All-Star Game on Saturday.

With Talbot’s outstanding performance this season, it’s no surprise that he has been selected to represent the LA Kings at the NHL All-Star Game, and fans will undoubtedly be looking forward to seeing him showcase his skills on the ice in Toronto.
