A Street Dedicated to David Bowie to be Inaugurated in Paris

The iconic artist David Bowie will be posthumously honored with the inauguration of a street named Rue David Bowie in the 13th arrondissement of Paris on January 8, 2024, at 4:15 pm. The approval for this street was granted by the Paris City Council in February 2020. This dedication holds special significance, as it would have been Bowie’s 77th birthday.

To commemorate the unveiling of Rue David Bowie, the 13th arrondissement’s town hall will host a public evening event from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm. The event will be hosted by journalist, writer, and musician Jérôme Soligny, a close friend and biographer of Bowie. Pianist and producer Clifford Slapper will perform, known for his piano and vocal reinterpretations of Bowie’s songs in his album “Bowie Songs One.”

An exclusive exhibition showcasing the life and work of David Bowie will be held at the Galerie Athena within the town hall. The exhibition, curated by Bowie’s childhood friends, photographer Geoff MacCormack and artist George Underwood, will feature rare visuals from Bowie’s iconic albums such as “Hunky Dory” and “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars.” The exhibition will run from Thursday, January 4, to Sunday, January 14.

This dedication to David Bowie is a fitting tribute to his lasting impact on the music industry and popular culture. Fans and admirers of the artist will have the opportunity to pay homage to his legacy through the inauguration of Rue David Bowie and the celebratory events planned in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
