The Top Destination for Expatriates in Europe (Paris is Far Behind)

The desire for a change of scenery has led many French citizens to consider expatriation. According to a survey conducted by InterNations, a community website for expatriates with over 5 million members, the most ideal destination for expatriates is Málaga, Spain. The survey consisted of 12,065 participants who rated their life and work abroad in 49 cities based on criteria such as quality of life, ease of settling in, work, and personal finances. Paris, a city often considered ideal, ranked 41st due to its unfriendly reputation. Italy also performed poorly, with Rome and Milan ranking 48th and 49th, respectively, despite their mild climate and renowned cuisine. Contrarily, Málaga in Spain earned the top spot thanks to its sunny climate and local friendliness, with 89% of participants reporting that locals are particularly friendly to foreign residents. This data from Travel and Leisure.com highlights Málaga as the highest-rated city globally in terms of local friendliness.
