Marion Borras Talks About Her 2024 Olympic Preparation

As the Elite French Track Cycling Championships commence from January 4th to 7th, followed by the European Championships from January 10th to 14th in Apeldoorn, French track cycling specialists are preparing for the ultimate goal of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Marion Borras, the reigning French Omnium champion, is gearing up for this crucial year that begins at the National Velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. She is also focusing on her upcoming road season, with her sights set on the 4th edition of the Paris-Roubaix Femmes on April 6th.

Despite a packed schedule, the 26-year-old from St Michel-Mavic-Auber 93 team remains undaunted, emphasizing the importance of balancing both her track and road cycling commitments. In a recent press conference, she shared insights into her 2024 program and goals.

Borras expressed her ongoing struggle with illness after recovering from a recent bout of gastro. She remains optimistic about her form despite these setbacks, having completed a two-week training camp with the Federation in Tenerife, followed by her team’s training camp in Calpe. She hopes to rebound in time for the upcoming championships.

She emphasized the significance of setting the stage for the Paris Olympics, given the limited track competitions leading up to the Games. Apart from the French and European Championships, the only other major event on the international circuit will be the Nations Cup in Canada from April 12th to 14th.

Borras acknowledged the shift in mindset as 2024 unfolds, marking the final stretch of preparation for the Olympics. She emphasized the need to stay composed despite the pressures, considering the long season ahead and the various races leading up to the Olympics.

She revealed plans for a heavier focus on road cycling compared to the previous year, with the flexibility to compete from early February up to the Paris-Roubaix in April, followed by the Nations Cup in mid-April. This extensive road schedule forms a crucial part of her preparation for the Olympics.

Borras emphasized the significance of having intermediate goals, such as Paris-Roubaix, as it allows her to remain focused and less stressed amidst the build-up to the Olympics. She views these races as checkpoints in her journey towards the ultimate goal of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
