“Paris Police Chronicles: New Year Begins with a Bang”

The Paris Police Department recently unveiled a detailed report of a string of incidents that unfolded over the New Year’s holiday. From vanishing vehicles to armed robberies, the weekend unfolded as a whirlwind of activity for law enforcement in the Texas city.

One of the most troubling episodes centred on the unauthorised use of a motor vehicle. In the early hours of the morning, a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 short bed pickup vanished from the 1100 block of Grove Street, prompting an investigation by the Community Service Officer.

Another victim reported a break-in of his Dodge Pickup while parked on Lamar Avenue, where valuable items including a rifle and a scope were stolen from the vehicle.

The police also issued an alert for a missing 71-year-old Hispanic male, who was eventually found in a shed in Delta County and taken for evaluation at Paris Regional Health.

Several arrests occurred over the weekend, with Ricardo Jose Duarte-Smith taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine). Additionally, two individuals, Louis Huley, Jr. and Earl Junior Williams, were arrested for possession of crack cocaine after being found in a vehicle parked off the roadway on Provine Alley.

There was also a report of an assault on a family member, where an individual was choked during a child custody exchange.

The most alarming incident involved an armed robbery at a store on Clarksville Street, where two unknown suspects, described as Hispanic males, held a store employee at gunpoint and made off with a certain amount of money.

The weekend also witnessed the arrest of multiple individuals for their first DWIs, as well as the apprehension of Leah Elizabeth Osburn on a Bowie County warrant for probation violation.

The Paris Police Department reported a total of 211 calls for service, 22 adult arrests, and 93 traffic stops over the holiday weekend, marking a busy start to the new year for law enforcement in the area.

The events of this weekend serve as a poignant reminder of the unpredictable and eventful nature of police work. It’s a testament to the dedication of law enforcement to keeping the community safe and secure, regardless of the circumstances.
