Navigating Upstate: How Construction Will Impact Your Summer Plans

Attention all Greenville locals! Get ready to embark on a journey of change as the Greenville County Reliability Project is about to shake up your usual driving routes. Brace yourself for some twists and turns, but fear not, we’re here to guide you through the maze and ensure your summer plans stay on track!

Piedmont Natural Gas, a proud partner of Duke Energy, is gearing up to lay the groundwork for new natural gas infrastructure. As their mission unfolds, be prepared for some traffic slowdowns and shifts in your daily commute. Stay in the loop with the following details about the construction zones and work hours:

Wade Hampton Road:
If Wade Hampton Road is your usual stomping ground, be ready for construction activities every Monday through Saturday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., happening west of the intersection of St. Mark Road.

Highway 290/Locust Hill Road:
Construction work will be in full swing on Highway 290/Locust Hill Road from Monday to Saturday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

St. Mark Road:
Are you a regular on St. Mark Road? Construction will be in action Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. As the road closes to through traffic from January through summer, we’ve got your back with roadway trenches equipped with plates for vehicles to pass through. Rest assured, local traffic and emergency vehicles will have access at all times, with other traffic redirected along Highway 290/Highway 29.

Piedmont Natural Gas is keeping residents in the loop through bright orange car tags, distributed to homes and businesses along St. Mark Road, as well as to residents using the road for street access. If you need more tags or missed out, just ring their hotline at 844-NATGAS.9.

As we look towards the future, the project will transition into the restoration phase, focusing on repaving roads and enhancing the surrounding areas. The short-term hiccups will pale in comparison to the long-term benefits!

So, as you navigate the Upstate this summer, keep an eye out for construction zones, plan your routes accordingly, and above all, enjoy the journey!
