Hello to all our friends in Massachusetts! It looks like we’re in for a colossal snowstorm this weekend, so get ready to experience a magical winter wonderland. The National Weather Service has given a heads up for a Winter Storm Watch from Saturday night through Sunday for all areas north and west of Boston.
So, when can we expect the snow to begin its graceful descent? It’s forecasted to commence between 7-9 p.m. Saturday night in western Mass, 9-11 p.m. in central Mass, and 11 p.m.-1 a.m. in eastern Mass. And once it starts, it will cascade down in all its glory throughout Sunday morning. Some areas may even witness snowfall rates of up to 1″ per hour, so get ready for some serious snowfall!
In terms of snow totals, we can anticipate about 6-12″ just inland from the coastline, 3-6″ along the immediate coastline, and 1-3″ in the South Coast to the Cape Cod Canal area. There may even be some intense snow bands leading to 12″+ snow in certain areas, so keep an eye out for updates.
For those concerned about coastal flooding, the good news is that tides are low this weekend, diminishing the risk of significant coastal flooding. There may be some minor concerns in certain areas, but overall, the threat is low.
As always, it’s best to be prepared for the snowstorm. Ensure your home is ready for the winter weather and that your car is equipped to handle the snowy roads. And don’t worry, the WBZ Weather team will keep you informed and updated throughout the entire event on WBZ-TV, WBZ.com, and CBS News Boston.
Get ready to wrap up warm and revel in the snow, Massachusetts! It’s going to be a captivating winter wonderland out there.
