Greetings Bridgewater! It seems that we are in for a delightful dusting of snow this weekend – a rare occurrence in the past two years. And guess what? The Township assures us that they are fully equipped to handle it!
Township Administrator Michael Pappas has confirmed that the Department of Public Works has diligently prepared their spreaders and plows for action. In addition, they have secured the assistance of two private plow companies to ensure they are ready for any eventuality.
The National Weather Service has provided a snowfall map, estimating approximately 1 to 2 inches of snowfall in our area. Although this may not seem substantial, the Township is not taking any chances. Their top priority is to clear the snow emergency routes and emergency service stations. Once these critical areas are attended to, attention will turn to the residential areas.
To ensure a coordinated effort, the Department of Public Works is collaborating closely with the Bridgewater Police and OEM officials. They have also established open lines of communication with residents, as well as with the State and County governments.
A gentle reminder – property owners are responsible for clearing their sidewalks of snow and ice. It is also advisable to park vehicles off the street during a snowstorm. Parked cars on the roadway can impede the plows’ effectiveness and contribute to more ice buildup.
When can we expect this eagerly anticipated snowstorm? It appears that it will make its grand entrance on Saturday afternoon and linger into Sunday. Here is the detailed forecast:
Saturday: Anticipate some snow between 1 and 4 p.m., transitioning into a mix of snow and rain. The sky will be overcast with a high near 39. The wind will begin lightly and then increase to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. The likelihood of precipitation is 70 percent, with less than half an inch of new snow expected.
Saturday Night: Prepare for rain and snow, with the temperature dropping to around 32. With a 100 percent chance of precipitation, we could see between three quarters and one inch of new snow.
Sunday: The day presents a chance of rain and snow before 4 p.m., followed by a possibility of snow. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 37, and there is a 50 percent chance of precipitation.
Sunday Night: The sky will be partly cloudy with a low around 27.
