The Atlanta Hawks have announced a significant development that has generated considerable excitement among fans. After an absence of nearly thirty years, the Hawks are set to return to Peachtree TV (WPCH) in Atlanta, representing a significant homecoming for the team. This means that every Friday night game for the remainder of the 2023-24 NBA season will be broadcast for free on Peachtree TV, beginning with the game against Indiana on January 12th, 2024.
In addition to Peachtree TV, Gray TV’s CBS affiliate WANF (Atlanta News First) will also be broadcasting the first two Friday night games live, providing fans with an opportunity to catch the action at no extra cost.
This partnership with Peachtree TV and Gray TV represents a significant development for the Hawks and their dedicated fanbase in the Atlanta market. The live games will be accessible over the airwaves and on major cable and satellite pay-TV systems, ensuring widespread access for fans.
Furthermore, Gray will simulcast the games on its television stations in various cities in Georgia and Alabama, expanding the reach of the broadcasts to an even larger audience of fans.
This collaboration has been made possible through an agreement with Diamond Sports Group, the owner of Bally Sports Southeast. The production team from Bally Sports Southeast, along with familiar on-air talent such as Dominique Wilkins, Bob Rathbun, and Tabitha Turner, will be part of the 10-game package.
The Friday night lineup of games promises to be action-packed, featuring matchups against top teams like the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, and Philadelphia 76ers. Additionally, the Hawks vs. Pelicans game on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, will also be aired on Peachtree TV.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to give Hawks fans a new, free way to watch our games this season,” says Atlanta Hawks & State Farm Arena Executive Vice President/Chief Revenue Officer Andrew Saltzman. “We are thankful to Peachtree TV and Gray TV for making this a reality and look forward to returning the Hawks to our historic local partner for our Friday games.”
The return of the Atlanta Hawks to Peachtree TV and WANF is not only a major win for longtime fans but also a great opportunity to attract new fans, as WANF/WPCH Vice President and General Manager Erik Schrader points out. The availability of the games on broadcast television means that everyone can be part of the excitement, and this inclusivity is something that the Hawks are truly excited about.
With this partnership, fans can look forward to catching all the NBA action as the Atlanta Hawks light up the court and bring their A-game to loyal fans. This is just the beginning of an epic comeback for the Hawks, and with the support of Peachtree TV, Gray TV, and devoted fans, there’s no telling what fantastic things are in store for the future. Get ready to cheer on the Hawks and witness history in the making!
