The latest data from Insee, published on December 28, 2023, indicates that the population in Val-de-Marne is on the rise. From 2015 to January 1, 2021, the department gained an average of 0.5% in population, bringing the total number of residents to 1,415,367. This growth rate was lower than that of Seine-Saint-Denis at 0.8%, but higher than Paris, which experienced a decrease of 0.6%, and Hauts-de-Seine, which saw an increase of 0.3%.
The top three cities with remarkable population increases are Villecresnes, Boissy-Saint-Léger, and Gentilly. Villecresnes, a relatively modest city with only 11,642 inhabitants, experienced a significant 20.22% surge, while Boissy-Saint-Léger saw an increase of 10.35% and Gentilly of 12.26%.
Conversely, Saint-Mandé, located on the outskirts of Paris just above the Bois de Vincennes, experienced the largest decline in residents at 5.38%. This is followed by La Queue-en-Brie with a decline of 4.91% and Fontenay-sous-Bois with a decline of 3.42%.
These statistics highlight the dynamic nature of population changes within the Val-de-Marne area, with some cities experiencing substantial growth while others are seeing a decline in residents.
