Trouble at Trocadéro: 7-Year-Old Girl Sexually Assaulted by Afghan Man

Another concerning incident occurred at the Trocadéro. On the night of Saturday, December 30th to Sunday, December 31st, a 7-year-old girl was the victim of a sexual assault, according to Le Parisien. She was in the garden of the Trocadéro in Paris with her father when a 35-year-old man of Afghan origin approached her.

At around 1 am, the girl’s father contacted the authorities and reported that “a stranger, in a state of intoxication, had forcefully kissed his child on the mouth,” as per a police source. Officers arrived at the scene and found the father holding the perpetrator.

The Afghan man was arrested and taken into custody at the police station of the 16th arrondissement. He will be interrogated before the public prosecutor decides on further action. The parents are expected to file a complaint on Monday for sexual assault on a minor under 15 years of age.

The Trocadéro area, along with the Champ-de-Mars, has been a frequent site of sexual assaults. In early December, a 26-year-old undocumented man was apprehended on suspicion of assaulting a Brazilian tourist earlier in the year. Police officers are regularly stationed in the area to ensure the safety of visitors.

It is distressing to witness such incidents, particularly involving minors. The safety and security of all individuals, especially children, should be prioritized. We hope that the authorities will take prompt and appropriate action to address these issues and prevent such heinous acts in the future.

The community must collaborate to ensure the safety of all individuals, and raising awareness and maintaining vigilance are crucial in preventing such crimes. We urge everyone to be cautious and alert, especially in crowded public spaces. Together, we can establish a safer environment for everyone.
