The City of Regina has promoted Jennifer Johnson to oversee tourism and named her the new deputy city manager.
The move revives the tourism department, which was eliminated in 2016, and is part of the city’s plan to take back responsibility from Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) in 2024.
The return of the tourism department includes seven full-time employees, a $910,000 budget, and funds redirected from REAL to the city’s coffers, authorized in the 2024 budget passage in December.
The changes aim to streamline operations and ensure effective management of tourism and city administration.
