The Paris-Nord-Villepinte exhibition park, the largest in Île-de-France, will undergo a significant transformation into the Arena Paris Nord in preparation for hosting the Olympic and Paralympic competitions in 2024.
Originally inaugurated in 1982, the venue was specifically designed for professional trade fairs, political and cultural conventions. The 135-hectare complex consists of 9 halls that can be adjusted to accommodate various events. Last July, the Villepinte exhibition park organized a sports and solidarity challenge with the goal of reaching 10 million steps through a series of challenges over 10 days. The successful completion of the mission led to a donation of 5,000 euros to the association Le Refuge, which supports and provides shelter to young LGBT+ individuals facing exclusion.
The Arena Paris Nord will be a key venue for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic events, with a flexible layout that can accommodate up to 6,000 spectators for each competition, offering an optimal experience for sports enthusiasts.
Access to the Arena Paris Nord is conveniently available via the RER B, with the venue being served by the “Parc des expositions” stop. The preliminary phases of women’s and men’s boxing will take place from July 27 to August 4, followed by the ranking events of modern pentathlon fencing from August 8 to 11 for both women and men. The event will conclude with the seated volleyball competitions for women and men from August 29 to September 7.
The transformation of the Paris Nord Exhibition Park into the Arena Paris Nord represents an exciting development as it prepares to host a wide array of thrilling Olympic and Paralympic events. This presents a significant opportunity for sports fans to witness top-notch competitions in a state-of-the-art facility, underscoring the importance of this transformation for the upcoming 2024 games in Paris.
