However, the call for donations has faced criticism from internet users and elected officials. Many have questioned why a public university hospital like AP-HP would need to depend on individual donations to finance essential medical equipment.
Critics have highlighted the impact of ongoing budget cuts to public hospitals, resulting in reduced resources and personnel. The national nurses’ union, SNPI, emphasized the negative effects of austerity measures, stating that hospitals are being forced to resort to donation appeals in order to secure vital equipment.
