The University of Oklahoma’s football team is preparing for their 57th bowl appearance at the Alamo Bowl, which will also be their final game as a member of the Big 12 Conference before transitioning to the Southeastern Conference in 2024. The Sooners, currently on a 25th consecutive bowl appearance streak, are aiming for their 11th victory of the season in the upcoming bowl game.
Despite the absence of top-10 ranked quarterback Dillon Gabriel, freshman signal-caller Jackson Arnold is set to make his first career start in the Alamo Bowl. He will be supported by sixth-year receiver Drake Stoops and freshman All-American Nic Anderson.
Oklahoma has experienced success with their interceptions this season, ranking second nationally and demonstrating a strong third-down defense. However, they will be missing several key players for the Alamo Bowl, including offensive linemen and defensive backs.
The Alamo Bowl will not only showcase Oklahoma’s football prowess but also celebrate their legacy in the Big 12 and their record of producing top-tier NFL players. With their final appearance in the Big 12, the Sooners aim to end their era in the conference on a high note.
As the team faces Arizona, they will encounter a challenging opponent with a balanced offensive and defensive game, led by redshirt freshman quarterback Noah Fifita and standout players such as wide receivers Jacob Cowing and Tetairoa McMillan. Arizona’s running back, Jonah Coleman, has also proven to be a formidable force.
The upcoming Alamo Bowl promises to be an exciting showdown between two powerhouse teams, and the Sooners are determined to make their last appearance in the Big 12 Conference one to remember.
