Movie Theater Madness: Waterworks Cinemas Facing Health Violations

Picture this: You’re buzzing with excitement to catch the newest blockbuster film at Waterworks Cinemas, ready to sink into your seat with a tub of popcorn and an ice-cold drink. But hold your horses – before you rush to grab those tickets, there’s a not-so-pleasant tale to tell about what recently went down at this cinema in Allegheny County.

So, here’s the scoop – a health inspector paid a visit to Waterworks Cinemas on Dec. 26, and let’s just say they stumbled upon some pretty shocking revelations. We’re talking about freshly departed mice hanging out behind a movie screen, and a gaggle of expired mice chilling in various rooms throughout the theatre. Yikes! But that’s not all – the report also mentioned a swarm of “Fruit flies too numerous to count under all the drink towers,” as well as rodent droppings near drink machines and all over the place, and hot dogs being stored at a temperature that’s definitely not safe for consumption.

Naturally, this news came as a bit of a jolt to movie buffs like Brian Baker, who simply said, “Hold up, I haven’t been here in forever, and now I’m not sure if I even want to go in anymore.” Totally understandable, right? I mean, who wants to share their cinema experience with some unexpected rodent guests?

But wait, there’s more – the folks at Waterworks Cinemas got wind of the situation and had this to say: “In conjunction with the health department, Waterworks Mall personnel, and other professionals, we have embarked on a new action plan to resolve the pest issue. We appreciate their expertise and assistance in this matter. Our top priority is the safety and health of our guests and staff. In the meantime, we are currently open under the guidance and guidelines set by the Health Department.”

Well, at least they’re taking action, right? The theatre is set to be reinspected on Jan. 5, and let’s hope they’re able to bid farewell to those unwelcome visitors.

And in case you were wondering, moviegoer Tom Shirey shared his thoughts, saying, “Hopefully they’ll eradicate the problem and carry on. It’s a nice theatre otherwise.” Fingers crossed!

So, as things stand, Waterworks Cinemas is still open, but who knows the last time they checked under the movie seats. If you’re planning on heading over for a movie night, just keep an eye out for any unexpected guests – and maybe pass on those hot dogs for now.

Looks like we’ll have to wait and see how things unfold at Waterworks Cinemas, and whether the health department gives them the “all clear” after their next visit. Here’s hoping for a happy ending to this cinema saga!
