The CAC40 of the Paris stock exchange has shown a positive trend, increasing by 0.3% to 7,558 points in the final trading session of 2023. The closing record of 7,596.91 points set on December 15th remains a challenge due to low trading volumes as a result of many traders being on vacation and investors having closed their positions for the year.
However, the 2023 stock market year has been prosperous, with the CAC40 briefly surpassing the 7,600 mark for the first time in its history and an overall performance of the Paris index exceeding 16% (+16.7% currently).
The absence of major indicators or interventions from central bank officials has led the market to anticipate an imminent rate cut by the Federal Reserve in the United States, which is expected to benefit risky assets.
Notable performances in rising stocks include luxury companies such as LVMH and Hermès, Saint-Gobain, and Voltalia. On the other hand, there have been no significant declines among the CAC40 stocks, with Clariane showing a slight decrease.
It is encouraging to witness the positive performance of the CAC40 index and the overall success of the Paris stock market in 2023, and we anticipate continued progress and success in the coming year.
