The mural, created by Global Street Art, incorporates vibrant flowers and a touching poem emphasising the idea that everyone requires support in order to grow and thrive. Lee Bofkin, co-founder of the street art agency, expressed the personal significance of the project, revealing that his mother has been involved with the Samaritans for nearly 25 years. He highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the invaluable work carried out by the Samaritans and the significance of encouraging individuals to seek help before reaching a crisis point.
Jessica, a volunteer at Samaritans, expressed the importance of making their service more widely known, stating that many people are unaware that they are available to provide support 24/7, 365 days a year. Annabel Davis, also from Samaritans, acknowledged that the holiday season can be particularly challenging for many individuals. She underscored the potential life-changing impact of messages of hope and the capacity of the mural, positioned in a prominent location, to reach a vast audience and inspire those facing difficulties to seek support instead of suffering in silence.
During the Christmas period in the previous year, Samaritans responded to over 250,000 calls for help, highlighting the significance of providing accessible support for individuals struggling during the festive season.
