Get Ready for the Global Rendering Get-Together

The International Rendering Symposium is fast approaching, and rendering enthusiasts from all corners of the globe are eagerly anticipating this thrilling event! Organized by the North American Renderers Association (NARA) and US Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY), this symposium is scheduled to take place from February 1st to 2nd, 2024, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

Crafted to spotlight the indispensable role of the rendering industry in international trade and global sustainability, the 2024 symposium is poised to offer two exhilarating days filled with illuminating presentations and captivating discourse.

The symposium’s debut will be graced by a warm greeting from Anna Wilkinson, NARA’s vice president of communications. Subsequently, Charles Starkey, Ph.D., NARA’s senior vice president of scientific services, will delve into “Lifecycle Data on the Sustainability of Rendered Products for Pet Food.” Following this, pet food consultant Miguel Lopez, Ph.D., will impart insights on “The Pet Food Market in Latin America.”

The symposium’s agenda encompasses a diverse spectrum of topics, ranging from carbon intensity scoring and the food versus biofuel debate to the use of rendered products for aquaculture, global antioxidant supply, and strategies for reducing food waste in China. The event will also feature captivating speaker panels and a networking reception for participants and speakers alike.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), Pet Food Institute (PFI), and the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), the symposium organizers will host a workshop entitled “USDA-APHIS: a Dialogue and Digest.” Set to take place on January 31st, this enlightening session will feature two USDA-APHIS representatives who will engage in discussions about policy decision-making, the development of health certifications, and other crucial subjects.
