A New Initiative to Support Black Newcomers in Sudbury

In the heart of Sudbury, there lies an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. The Afro Women and Youth Foundation has unveiled an exciting new venture aimed at assisting Black newcomers in the area – a food and clothing bank. This groundbreaking initiative seeks to offer vital support to those who are navigating the challenges of settling into a new community.

The foundation is now extending a call to the public, urging them to donate non-perishable food items, along with new or gently used clothing, winter jackets, footwear, hygiene products, and more. These contributions will go a long way in brightening the lives of those in need.

In a heartwarming display of festive spirit, the foundation, in collaboration with the Sudbury Credit Union, has furnished holiday food baskets to 20 individuals. To witness the community rallying together to provide assistance, particularly during the holiday season, is truly touching.

For those who wish to lend a helping hand, donations can be dropped off at the Afro Women and Youth Foundation Community Centre from Tuesday to Friday, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Additionally, the foundation offers donation pickups by appointment only on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., ensuring that everyone can play a part in this noble cause.

The Afro Women and Youth Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, offering leadership, empowerment, and mentorship programs for Black women and youth. The collaborative efforts with various community and corporate bodies enable the foundation to deliver exceptional programs and services to their target audience.

It is a beautiful thing to witness people coming together to support one another, serving as a powerful reminder of the impact achievable through unified efforts towards a common goal.
